A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Yumi Cho is currently a violinist in the San Diego Symphony, a position she won in 2005.
Yumi is a graduate of the prestigious dual degree program between Barnard College/Columbia University and The Juilliard School. She received her B.A. with honors in Economics and Environmental Science in 2004 and her M.M. in Violin Performance under the tutelage of Ronald Copes and Naoko Tanaka in 2005. She has also studied with Dorothy DeLay in the Pre-College Division of The Juilliard School and with Pamela Frank at the Peabody Institute.
Yumi has participated in various music festivals including the Verbier, La Jolla SummerFest, Cascade, Stuttgart, Britten-Pears, Music Academy of the West, IMS Prussia Cove, Carnegie Hall Professional Workshop, Pacific, New York String Seminar and Aspen Festivals. She has future plans to attend The International Holland Music Sessions and the Lucerne Festival Academy. Yumi is a confirmed chocoholic and loves to bake and consume fine chocolates in her spare time.
