Rodion Belousov joined the San Diego Symphony as second oboist in 2021. He was previously a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.
As a soloist, Mr. Belousov was featured on Netflix’s hit fantasy series The Witcher starring Henry Cavill and Amazon Studio’s critically acclaimed series The Romanoffs starring Christina Hendricks, Isabelle Hupert and Aaron Eckhart. The Witcher Original Soundtrack album featuring Belousov’s oboe and duduk solos charted at No. 1 on iTunes in every major territory in the world, Top 10 on Billboard, and surpassed 200 million album streams establishing Mr. Belousov as one of the most-streamed solo oboe artists currently in the world. Mr. Belousov’s playing was praised for his “elegant expression and dazzling technical abilities” (Awards Focus) and his “warm and silky tone evoking a powerful emotional response” (BMI).
Mr. Belousov has performed in the world’s most celebrated venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Boston Symphony Hall (Boston), Berliner Philharmonie (Berlin), Wiener Musikverein (Vienna), KKL (Lucerne), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), St. Petersburg Philharmonia (St. Petersburg), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), Rudolfinum (Prague), Centro Cultural Kirchner (Buenos Aires) and Gran Teatro Nacional (Lima). As a winner of the Keston MAX Award, Mr. Belousov is scheduled to perform with the London Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Sir Simon Rattle in 2022.
Rodion Belousov holds a Master of Music degree and Performance Diploma from Boston University (where he studied with John Ferrillo and Anne Marie Gabriele) and a Bachelor of Music degree from Longy School of Music where he studied with Gonzalo Ruiz and Keisuke Wakao. Additionally, he also attended the Music Academy of the West, where he studied with Eugene Izotov, Cynthia DeAlmeida, Robert Walters and Xiomara Mass, as well as the NOI National Orchestra Institute + Festival. Mr. Belousov performed with the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra under Grammy®-nominated Benjamin Zander and Boston Ballet Orchestra.
