Trombonist Logan Chopyk is a proud San Diego native, having moved back home recently after over a decade of university study (UCLA ’08, Northwestern ’10, Indiana University ’15). Mr. Chopyk is a seasoned orchestra musician, having played with groups such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the New World Symphony as well as having held two principal trombone posts in regional Midwest orchestras. He joined the San Diego Symphony Orchestra in 2015.
As a chamber musician, Mr. Chopyk has toured and played with Presidio Brass, Skinny Lips and the Sound Malfunction, Millennium Chamber Players and the 2009 national trombone quartet champions NU Bones. With a doctoral minor in music education, Mr. Chopyk is Lecturer of Trombone at University of San Diego and has a vibrant studio of local middle and high school players. Logan Chopyk loves playing, singing and writing songs for his new daughter and collaborating with his star-pianist wife, Tina Chong.
