Allan Rickmeier has been a bassist with the San Diego Symphony since 1978. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Mr. Rickmeier has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, and received his Master’s degree in Music from Yale University. He has been instructed by some of the pre-eminent bass performers in the country, including Clifford Biggs (Minnesota Orchestra), Warren Benfield (Chicago Symphony), Joseph Guastafeste (Chicago Symphony) and Homer Mensch (New York Philharmonic.)

Allan Rickmeier performed with several ensembles before coming to San Diego, including the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, the 5th Army Band (Chicago), the West Point Band, the New Haven Symphony and the Symphony Orchestra of Columbia (in Bogota, Columbia.)
