I like seeing students get inspired or motivated and then watching them improve.”

Ray Nowak, trumpet player with the San Diego Symphony, estimates that he has influenced literally hundreds to thousands of students, because he has been teaching for 20+ years as well as giving countless outreach concerts and master classes during his tenure with Presidio Brass Quintet. He has been teaching locally in the San Diego community for 8 years.

Every Monday Mr. Nowak also teaches and coaches as an extra curricular 75-minute class for a local elementary school band.  Mr. Nowak teaches privately and most recently the students in his studio are excited about: making All-State Band this year, marching at the Rose Parade, and focusing on preparing for auditions for various college programs.  Previously, he taught at Long Beach City College for 3 years as an adjunct trumpet instructor and one year teaching brass studio class at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.

Notable universities that he has guided students to gain acceptance into include: Colburn School of Music, Eastman School of Music, California Sate University at Fullerton, California State University at Long Beach, San Diego State University, as well as Brigham Young University.
