caterinalonghi_400Violist Caterina Longhi joined the San Diego Symphony Orchestra in 2015. A native of New York, Caterina completed her Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School of Music in Spring 2015, where she also received her Bachelor’s degree. Her primary teachers included Misha Amory, Hsin-Yun Huang, Steven Tenenbom and Heidi Castleman. Prior to moving to San Diego, Ms. Longhi was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, and she also served as principal viola with The Juilliard Orchestra, Verbier Festival Orchestra, Spoleto Festival USA and Schleswig Holstein Music Festival. She attended the New York String Orchestra Seminar in 2009, and she’s also been a fellow at the Taos School of Music, Heifetz Institute, Perlman Music Program and Music Academy of the West.

While in New York City, Ms. Longhi performed regularly in nursing homes and hospitals as a Gluck Community Service fellow, and also travelled to Antigua, Guatemala, for two summers to work and perform with elementary school students and disabled children.

Caterina Longhi enjoys reading and cooking, and spending time exploring new places with friends and family.
